Travis Cook was selected a Topeka Capital-Journal 3A First Team All-State honoree at linebacker both his junior and senior seasons at Conway Springs High School in Conway Springs, Kan. He was also named First Team All-Kansas for all classifications by the Kansas Coaches Association as a senior. He is one of only 60 seniors in the state of Kansas to be selected to participate in the 2004 Shrine Bowl to be played next summer. Cook led his Conway Springs High team to three consecutive Kansas 3A State Football titles in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Conway Springs concluded the 2003 season having won its last 41 consecutive games. Cook was the team leader in tackles as a senior with 123. He also recorded seven pass breakups, caused four fumbles, intercepted two passes and was credited with one quarterback sack. For his career, Cook was credited with 337 tackles, 14 pass breakups, nine forced fumbles, seven interceptions and five quarterback sacks. He was also a standout athlete in basketball and track. His high school football coach was Mark Bliss. The son of Teresa Cook, he was also recruited by Colorado State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Tulsa. |
