Athletics Mission Statement:

In accordance with the mission of the University of Wyoming, the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics has been established as an integral part of the institution providing superior athletic programs in a manner that is philosophically, financially and competitively sound. The programs are dedicated to excellence, based on the highest standards of integrity and intended to be a credit to the University, community and state.

The University of Wyoming Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to operating its athletics programs in a manner consistent with the fair and equitable treatment of both male and female student-athletes and athletic personnel regardless of ethnicity or race. The Division offers extensive opportunities for both men and women to participate in varsity intercollegiate athletics, while sponsoring a variety of programs which maintain conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association I-A affiliation. The Division affords student-athletes the opportunity to achieve their personal goals and to realize their full academic potential. The Division is committed to providing adequate support services to ensure student-athlete welfare. The Division strives for regional and national excellence through balanced, highly competitive athletic programs that are above reproach.

The Division subscribes to high standards of academic quality and views its athletes as an integral part of the student body and, by so doing, retains a clear separation between intercollegiate athletics and professional sports.

Good sportsmanship must be an integral part of every sport sponsored by the University. To that end, the Division is committed to maintaining the highest standard of ethical conduct. The University clearly expresses this commitment to its student-athletes, employees, fans and alumni.

The mission statement articulates the philosophy of the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and reflects a clear understanding of the supportive role of athletics in the broader institutional mission.
